MMPI-2 원서 읽기 스터디 중입니다. 내용척도의 마지막을 TRT가 장식하고 있는데, 이 척도가 조기종결을 예측하지 못 한다는 내용이 나옵니다. 이와 관련하여 책 본문에 제시된 레퍼런스 중에 한 편을 찾아 논의 부분 옮겨옵니다.
The Negative Treatment Indicators scale (TRT) also failed to predict early termination in this study, similar to past research (Clark,1996). According to Butcher (1990), the TRT scale was not intended to predict early termination from therapy or therapy outcome, but rather consists of items that load onto two factors: low motivation and inability to disclose. Results of this and other studies reliably suggest that TRT is not a valid indicator of early termination.

TRT는 DEP와의 상관이 .77입니다. 조기종결의 가능성 때문에 이 척도가 상승했다기보다 환자가 지닌 우울 때문에 상승했을 가능성이 더 높습니다. 조기종결 가능성보다는 척도의 두 요인인 low motivation과 inability to disclose에 국한시켜 해석하는 것이 적절해 보입니다.
재미있게도 아래 연구에서는 초기 TRT 점수와 긍정적 치료 성과 간의 정적 상관이 나타났습니다. 상관이 기대되는 방향과 반대로 나타난 것인데요. 이에 대해 저자들은 성격장애와 같은 심한 병리를 지니지 않았을 경우 초기 평가 시의 DEP 상승이 긍정적 치료 성과와 관련이 높은 것을 감안할 때, 중등도로 상승한 선교사들의 치료 전 TRT 점수가 치료 전 DEP와 관련이 높기 때문에 발생한 결과일 수 있다고 말합니다.
Second, Trt scores have been reported to be related to depression (Graham, 2000), the symptoms of which were most associated with outcomes in our main analyses. Regardless of the underlying rationale, moderate Trt scores appeared to be a more positive treatment indicator than lower Trt scores among our sample of missionaries.
